The School of Earth Sciences is one of six schools in the Faculty of Science. Organisationally, the School is newly formed, bringing together the Earth Sciences discipline and the Earth Systems Science Computational Centre (ESSCC).

Home to the Geological Sciences major in the Bachelor of Science (BSc), the School's research fields include:

  • geochemistry, geochronology and isotope systems
  • environmental and marine Earth Sciences
  • fossil fuels, ore geology and exploration
  • crustal studies and tectonics
  • geodynamics
  • geomechanics
  • earthquake physics
  • high performance computing (HPC) software
